Design at Good Technology

Good Technology was a company that offered a suite of mobile productivity apps. Originally developed in the early-2000s, it provided secure access to Microsoft Outlook on 5-way navigation/12-key devices. In 2009 I led the effort to reinvent the apps for iPhone and webOS. My job was to define a compelling touch experience while satisfying time to market and legacy architecture constraints.

Design

I produced mockups, assets, and documentation for the sprint team. I oversaw six major releases to the App Store. For webOS I was responsible for the initial design before handing the project over to another designer.

To quickly communicate ideas to the spint team, I cut a screen-sized hole in a file folder and sketched on paper.

New features I designed, including connection status, Outlook-style folders, attachment management, calendar integration, and conference dialing.

Visual Identity

I worked with outside designers to define and implement a new visual identity for Good’s products.
