Bleacher Report for Xbox One

Introduction

Bleacher Report, the world's second largest sports website, offers 5-star rated apps for iOS and Android. These apps provide sports fans with news and information about their favorite teams and players.

In late 2013 and early 2014 I worked with product management to bring a Bleacher Report app to Xbox One. I led the UX effort to define both the longterm vision – a continuously updated, personalized sports broadcast using Bleacher Report branded video – as well as the short term minimum viable product.

Process

UX guidelines for the Xbox One were not publicly available when the console was released in late 2013. I started by conducting an heuristic analysis of the roughly 25 apps available for download at the time. I put together an overview of the Xbox One dashboard UI and the two primary app models for the product team.

After several whiteboard sessions I created wireframes to communicate key app ideas and highlight potential areas for Kinect voice and gesture integration.
